Lisenia teaches one named listening strategy at a time — connected speech, signposting, inference, note-taking — in a fixed order, because you cannot follow an argument until you can hear the words it is made of. Each one is practised at real speed, the way it has to work in a conversation and under exam conditions. AI does the part a human coach cannot do at scale: it reads every answer you give, finds the pattern behind your mistakes, and decides what you practise next.
And it was specially designed for developing listening. Not a four-skills app with a listening tab — there is no writing task here, no grammar drill, no vocabulary deck. Every hour of work goes into the skill the other three depend on: you cannot answer a question you did not catch, and listening is the one skill almost nobody is actually taught. It is left to improve by itself, and usually doesn’t.

Every session teaches one named listening strategy — connected speech, signposting, inference, note-taking — and they are sequenced so each skill rests on the one before it. You cannot follow an argument until you can hear the words it is made of.
Real life and the exam
The ear that catches a fast question at a station counter is the ear that catches a distractor in Part 3. Each session trains the skill in plain speech first, then puts it under exam conditions with the real question types and the real time pressure.

The coaching voice comes from professional English teachers and exam coaches who have sat beside learners through the same mistakes for years — the freeze after one lost answer, the number written the wrong way round, the option that sounds right because it repeats a word from the recording. Every question is checked before you see it
A bad question teaches a bad habit. So each one is checked against rules first: the correct answer must not be the longest or the odd-looking option, the words on screen must match the words in the recording, and the coach must speak in simple English — no matter how advanced the listening itself is.
Written to the exams as they are now
The IELTS sections follow the official four-part structure and its question types. The TOEFL material is written for the 2026 test — including the adaptive format, where the second part of the test is chosen by how you did in the first.

Every training session runs the same seven steps, so you always know where you are and what comes next. Two of them — a live note-taking lab and a full-speed authentic clip — appear where the strategy calls for them.
Speed control — including faster than the exam
Under every play button there is a Speed row. Tap 0.8× to open up a phrase you cannot yet separate, 1× for true exam speed, and 1.2× to train above the exam so that exam speed starts to feel slow. The pitch is held steady at every speed, so a vowel still sounds like itself — you are not listening to a chipmunk.
Replay — unlimited for the coach, counted for the clip
The coach can be replayed as often as you like: tap the ▶ Replay chip in any coach bubble, and set the coach’s own speed to 0.8×, 0.9× or 1×. Exam audio is different on purpose. The play button carries a plays left counter, because in the real test you hear it once — the counter teaches you to listen the first time.

Where a session has been recorded in more than one accent, a toggle lets you switch the same clip between American, British and Australian speakers. Train the accent that costs you marks — then check yourself against the two you avoided.
The same session is never the same twice
Answer options are reshuffled on every attempt, so a repeat cannot be passed from memory of where the right answer sat last time. Repeat a session and you get a genuinely different run of it — see the next section for how the level moves.
Every session ends with what you caught — and what to fix.
No bare percentage. The Reflect step shows your strength, groups your misses by cause, and hands you one specific thing to do about it before you move on.
Practise more — at a level that moves
Choosing Practice this session again does not replay what you just did. Lisenia re-runs the whole session — new audio, new speakers, tighter distractors — at a level set by how you performed:
Fix the weakness before the next step. The repair drill at the top of the result page is chosen from the misses you actually made — if numbers cost you the marks, you get numbers, not a general refresher. Clear that first, and the next session is not built on a gap.
Someone talks you through it. At every step.
The coach speaks at each stage of a session, at the end of your diagnostic, and at the end of every mock and full test. Deliberately in simple English — you are here to train your ear on the listening, not to decode the explanation of it. And the order never changes: what went well first, then the one thing to fix.
